George W. Bush is a grandpa as Jenna Bush Hager gave birth to her first child
Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of George W. Bush and the granddaughter of George H.W. Bush, gave birth to a daughter of her own last weekend. The baby girl, named Margaret Laura Hager, is Jenna’s and husband Henry Hager’s first.
“Both my girls are healthy and well,” said new dad in an email to Today on Sunday.
The 6-pound, 15-ounce baby girl was born in a New York hospital on Saturday, April 13. The news was shared on the Today Show, where Jenna works as a correspondent.

The old-fashioned name is a nod to both the baby’s paternal and maternal grandmothers. She will go by the more modern “Mila.”
George W. and Laura Bush visited the hospital shortly after Jenna gave birth. Mila is the first grandchild for both, who are also parents to Jenna’s twin sister, Barbara.
“Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild,” the former president said in a statement Sunday. “Jenna and Mila are healthy. And our family is elated.”
Jenna, 31, and Henry married in 2008 after meeting while reportedly working on her father’s re-election campaign. Henry’s father, John H. Hager, is an active Republican who formerly served as lieutenant governor of Virginia and was even appointed Assistant Secretary of the Department of Education’s Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services by George W. Bush.
In addition to politics, it seems that Henry and G.W. have another interest in common.
While bonding with the new baby, the father and grandfather also took in the final rounds of the Masters.
Congratulations to the family!
