George Clooney’s girl Elisabetta Canalis and friend Karima Menad implicated in Milan prostitution ring and cocaine scandal
George Clooney’s girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis has been named as part of a scandalous prostitution ring bust in Milan, Italy, with allegations ofcocaine use.
According to US Weekly (via PopEater) prostitute Karima Menad names Elisabetta in documents describing doing coke in two Milan clubs, Hollywood and The Club, which have since been shut down. These girls (or at least Karima Menad) were allegedly part of a ring of hired escorts who would chat up rich and famous men, do cocaine with them, and then have sex with them (basically what happens in every VIP club all over the world):
“I remember taking cocaine with Elisabetta Canalis and two others. We were in The Club and it was December 2007. We had been at a party of some famous, rich celebrity whose name I cannot remember. I don’t remember who brought the drugs but we all took it.”
Karima Menad didn’t out Canalis as a prostitute, but simply remembers doing coke with her in a club. Prosecutor Frank Di Majo explained the prostitution ring aspect of the scandal:
“Their job was to encourage these customers to drink alcohol as to increase the table’s bill, followed up by sex off premises. They were often given cocaine for free by those who want to sit at a table of famous people… they want the visibility that comes from being seated at a central table, and to be seen with models, or celebrities from fashion, entertainment and sport.”
So that’s how she met George Clooney!
Just to clarify, Elisabetta started dating Clooney in 2009, about a year and some change after Karima remembers doing coke in a club with her. Maybe George pulled a Pretty Woman!
Canalis’s camp has not publicly responded about this situation.
