Lady Gaga made her first public appearance in months after undergoing hip surgery at the NYC Gay Pride Rally Friday night. That’s right, Gaga’s no longer getting around in her gold wheelchair!
Aside from the weird eye getup reminiscent of Geordi La Forge she wore at some point, she looked elegant, and more “normal” than many of her attention-getting getups she’s donned over the years. What better place for Gaga to make her return to the public eye than at the Gay Pride Rally right after the Supreme Court shot down Defense of Marriage Act?
Gaga gave a rousing speech, and a rendition of the national anthem with this changed lyric: “Oh say, does our star-spangled flag of pride yet wave.”
“We are not a niche. We are part, a big giant part of humanity. It’s time for us to be mainstream,” she said. “I demand the rights! To safe streets!” she said, the audience shouting back at her, “Enough is enough, enough is enough.”
