Full House’s Lori Loughlin said her “timing was off” with John Stamos
We adoringly watched Becky and Jesse’s love story unfold on Full House, but the real-life timing was never quite right for Lori Loughlin and John Stamos.
Loughlin, who played Rebecca Donaldson on the TGIF hit, married her first husband around the same time she began appearing on the show.
“When I got divorced, [John] met Rebecca Romijn and he got married,” Loughlin explained on a HuffPost Live segment.
Loughlin has been married since 1997, so she wasn’t on the market during Stamos’ 2005 split from Romijn.
“Our timing was just really off,” Loughlin said, even though she doubts good timing would have made a difference. “I don’t think it ever entered our minds that it would be something more.”
Although holding out for a Stamos/Loughlin romance may be futile, fans can take solace in the fact the former co-stars mutually cherish each other.
“He’s a really good friend of mine, I love and adore him,” Loughlin said of Stamos. “I think we have really good chemistry. We get each other. We just click.”

They apparently click so well that Full House producers decided to extend Loughlin’s original six-episode contract until the show ended in 1995. The cast has remained close since then, even getting together for gatherings… Which has led many fans to wonder whether we could ever see an on-screen reunion. Stamos has discussed the possibility, but admits a remake is more practical.
“I think getting everyone back together would be the tricky part about that. A remake I think is more realistic,” Stamos said. “Get some new actors, update the characters, make it more modern. I’d like to be involved with it creatively if there ever was a realistic chance of it being made.”
