For Ronan Farrow, Father’s Day is Brother-In-Law’s Day
Ronan Farrow, the son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen is not only a genius, Rhoades Scholar, human rights lawyer, and diplomat, he also has a sense of humor!
On Father’s Day, Ronan tweeted this zinger. Oh, you!
Happy father’s day — or as they call it in my family, happy brother-in-law’s day.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, in 1986 Woody Allen scandalously married Soon-Yi Previn, the daughter his wife Mia Farrow adopted with ex-husband Andre Previn (a pianist) before they divorced and she married Woody.
Despite the joke, Ronan was pretty morally outraged by the situation, as anyone could imagine. He once commented “He’s my father married to my sister. That makes me his son and his brother-in-law. That is such a moral transgression.”
Soon-Yi, who is now 41, argued that Woody was never a father figure to her growing up because he spent so much time with his biological children. She considered Andre Previn to be her real father. She said “I was never remotely close to Woody. He was someone who was devoted exclusively to his own children and to his work, and we never spent a moment together.”
Even so, we have side with Ronan on this. It’s got to be strange when your sister grows up and marries your dad!
