First photo of Kristen Stewart as a feminist Snow White?
This weekend at Comic-Con the first photos from Snow White and the Huntsman, staring Kristen Stewart as Snow White, were released and Stewart’s character isn’t anything like the rosy-cheeked, brightly-clothed Disney character we’ve come to envision.
In the Rupert Sanders directed film due out June 2012, Snow White is ready for battle with armor, a sword, and kick-ass shield with a tree on it. This isn’t some wilting flower waiting to be saved by a handsome prince, it looks like this Snow Whit can fight for herself.
In Huntsman, Snow White is banished to the woods to be killed by an evil queen (played by Charlize Theron,) she’s escorted there by a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who ends up teaming up with SW instead of destroying her.
Shooting for the film starts next week in London, and Charlize had some playful words for Stewart at a Comic Con panel this weekend. She said that also although she didn’t know Stewart yet, “She’s going to give me a run for my money. And I’m ready for it, bitch!” Stewart replied “Let’s go!”
There’s also another Snow White movie in the works for 2012 starring Lily Collins as SW, and Julia Roberts as The Queen. This film, which has released a photo of Lily as a more traditional, fairytale-princess-fantasy Snow White, has no title yet (The Brothers Grimm: Snow White has been bandied about), but its release date has been moved up to March 2012 to beat The Huntsman‘s release.
Huntsman starts shooting next week in London, are you excited?
