It was reported earlier today that Deadliest Catch and Celebrity Apprentice star Captain Sig Hansen had to be airlifted to a hospital after collapsing on board his boat while fishing for crab off the Alaskan coast.

According to the initial report, “Sig and the crew of the F/V Northwestern were at sea, with cameras rolling, when the captain briefly passed out. We’re told Sig brushed it off when he came to, and wanted to keep fishing.” Sig’s crew had different ideas, and Sig was airlifted to a hospital in Anchorage.

Sig’s daughter Mandy Hansen shared the above photo, of Sig in the hospital, on Instagram, and captioned it “Capt survived the ‘widowmaker’ !! Beating a heart attack ain’t easy. Welcome back boss ???”

The Deadliest Catch Facebook page later updated fans with more details:

Hey Catch Crew – We know there have been a lot of questions about Sig today. But we wanted to make sure we had as much information for you as possible before sharing. Captain Sig Hansen experienced chest pain at sea during the taping of Deadliest Catch. While Sig was determined to keep going, the crew acted swiftly and insisted that they dock to get him help. He was airlifted to Anchorage, Alaska, and immediately rushed to a medical facility. He is with his family and in good spirits. Please send him your love and prayers!

It was later confirmed that Sig did suffer a heart attack.

We’ve always been VERY open about our admiration for Sig, and we hope he is back on his feet and back where he belongs — at the wheel of the F/V Northwestern — soon!
