Calvin Harris says ‘all hell broke loose’ after Taylor Swift split
Fresh off the heels of the latest Taylor Swift celebrity split, this time with Tom Hiddleston, the “We Are Never Getting Back Together” singer’s former boyfriend, Calvin Harris, got candid in a recent interview about what went wrong during his time with Taylor.
When Calvin and Taylor were an item, the pair managed to keep things on the down low as much as possible, especially considering her mega pop star status and his own global fame as a DJ. Harris explained to GQ that Tay-Tay was good about keeping the public at bay:
It’s very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly. The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself. When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense. I’m not good at being a celebrity.
So, things worked…until they didn’t. And when the wheels came off it wasn’t the most amicable break:
But when it ended, all hell broke loose. Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure. It took me a minute to realize that none of that matters. I’m a positive guy. For both of us it was the wrong situation. It clearly wasn’t right, so it ended, but all of the stuff that happened afterwards…
When Calvin mentions “that Twitter thing,” he’s referring to a series of tweets in which he accused #TeamTaylor of purposefully trying to make him look bad in a row over a songwriting credit.
Harris did admit that going off on Twitter maybe wasn’t the best idea. “It was completely the wrong instinct. I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled,” he said.
