PHOTOS Burger King launches new, all-black food line

Burger 1

It turns out that Burger King’s motto of having it your way means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

In Japan, the company has rolled out a brand spankin’ new, all-black line of burgers. That’s a black bun, black cheese, and black sauce.

Bun

Two years ago, BK introduced “Premium Kuro” food by coloring the hamburger bun with bamboo charcoal, and adding squid ink to its ketchup.

Now, since last year’s “Kuro Ninja” (with black bacon) has proved to be enormously popular, Burger King has tripled down on its black delicacies. The cheese slices now feature bamboo charcoal as well; the beef burgers are made with black pepper; and the sauce has onion, garlic, and squid ink in it.

(“Kuro” is the Japanese word for “black.”)

 Cheese

Burger King Japan’s press release notes the popularity of its black items, and promises that they will be available only in limited editions. Presumably to get black food off of the racks and out of peoples’ minds before the holidays.

If the black food is too much for you, fret not: the Kuro Diamond sandwich comes with a black bun, but regular-colored lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise.

The burgers are only available in Japan…for now.
