Britney Spears attended Elton John’s annual Academy Awards viewing party last night in Los Angeles and while there, she debuted a new, rich chestnut hue — almost reminiscent of her prom photo. The pop singer, who has been blonde for nearly four years now, has gone back to being a brunette and she looks terrific.
In addition to her new hair, the newly single (but rumored to be dating David Lucado) Britney was wearing a sparkling black Michael Cinco gown and de Grisogono jewels. But she didn’t stay at the party long, according to PEOPLE, she arrived at 10:15 but was gone by 11:00. During her brief appearance sources claim everyone was buzzing about how amazing she looked.
Britney had previously tried out darker shades but none of them seemed to fit as well as her current shade. In 2006, Britney went public with a mousy shade of brown and in 2007, she went to a much darker shade of brown. After being blonde for a couple years after those tries at darkness, she gave things two more tries in 2009 but the hues fell flat and got mixed reviews — at best.
As we previously reported, Britney won’t be returning to The X-Factor for season 3, but she does have plenty lined up. She’s currently working on her eighth studio album and will be heading to Las Vegas for a headlining show sometime in the next few months.
