VIDEO The Heavy receive rare encore request from David Letterman on The Late Show

The Heavy on the Late Show with David Letterman

English indie rock/soul band The Heavy performed “How You Like Me Now?”  on The Late Show with David Letterman January 19 and Dave enjoyed the performance so much he asked the band to do it again while the audience stood in ovation! The electric, big-brassed song is from their critically acclaimed sophomore album, The House That Dirt Built, released last October.

Here’s a youtube video clip of their standout performance:

After the encore request the band plays through the commercial break and you can see that everyone is worked up and in a frenzy, especially Letterman.  At one point Dave yells “Here’s your American Idol”!

After being tipped in Rolling Stone‘s Hot List in May of 2008 they played in the 2008 South By Southwest music festival on the 89.3 The Current stage and collected one of the Best Discovery awards in Spin Magazine‘s Best and Worst of SXSW ’08. All signs point to a bright future for The Heavy.

You can find out more about the band at their official website as well as catching the official music video for “How You Like me Now?”.
