A Costa Rican court found Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s wedding bodyguards guilty of attempted murder. The incident occurred during the NFL player and supermodel’s April 2009 nuptials when the bodyguards fired shots at photographers.
“The bullet went between us, missing our heads. If the bullet been a little more to the left or right, it would have killed one of us,” photographer Rolando Aviles told The Daily Mail. “I could have lost my life for the sale of some pictures that Gisele didn’t want published. Are they insane?”
The two convicted bodyguards — Miguel Solis and Alexander Rivas — were sentenced to five years in prison. They were also ordered to pay Rolando and another victim $10,000. A third bodyguard was cleared of all charges.
At the time of the incident, Tom Brady denied the photographers’ claims.
“It’s absolute b.s. We found two guys on our property, and we told them to get out. Our security didn’t even have guns. There were no shots fired,” the Patriots quarterback said.
The photographers previously attempted to sue Tom and Gisele for $1 million, citing emotional damage. The case was dismissed by a New York State Supreme Court Justice in 2010 when she found the court did not have jurisdiction over the defendants.
