Miley Cyrus tells Ellen DeGeneres about VMAs, Liam Hemsworth and being an ‘adult baby’

Miley Cyrus - Ellen DeGeneres - October 2013

In the heels of Bangerz dropping, Miley Cyrus stopped by Ellen DeGeneres’ show to talk about her hectic, controversial life.

“It’s kind of the craziest time in my whole life. I think of everything that I did getting up to this moment and I feel it was all just me training for this marathon that I’m in the middle of right now,” she told Ellen.

As interviews with Miley have done so often in the past few weeks, the conversation turned to the VMAs. Some of her best comments…

On her outfit: “I wanted to be a bear. But, also somewhat an adult baby… I have an obsession with being an adult baby.”

On double standards: “No one cares about the man behind the booty. You only care about the one that’s shaking it… (Robin Thicke) was in rehearsal as much as I was and loving it, people.”

On the subsequent controversy: “I tried to wrap my head around, I guess, what a normal person thinks about the performance. I can’t really understand where the shock comes from… Gaga was in a thong, but no one cares.”

Unlike the past few weeks, Miley did open up to Ellen about ending her relationship with Liam Hemsworth.

Of the strippers at the engagement party Ellen threw: “I should have kept one of those dudes numbers!”

On whether she talks with Liam: “I just believe when a chapter is done, you have to close it and start a new one… My energy hasn’t really been focused on it.”

On how she’s doing: “I keep saying I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and that’s not even a dig, that’s just me because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself, which I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I’ve never been able to just be alone. I’m obsessed with being alone and hearing my thoughts.”
