Jason Aldean has filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years and high school sweetheart, Jessica Ussery. The filing comes just months after Jason was spotted in a very compromising, very public fling with American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr at a popular Hollywood bar.
According to TMZ, Jason filed for divorce on Friday, April 26, citing irreconcilable differences. Just one day prior, Jason’s rep had told press that the two were separating but made no mention that he would be filing for divorce.
“I can confirm that Jason and his wife are having problems, but there is nothing more to share at this time,” his rep said. “It’s a private family matter, and we hope everyone will respect that he would like to keep it that way.”
As for the logical question as to if Brittany Kerr was the reason for the split, Jason has stayed mum. Her mom, on the other hand, has not. “Brittany is not responsible for any breakup,” Debbie Kerr told Radar Online earlier this morning. “As her mom I would know. She doesn’t even live in L.A. anymore, she lives right here in town. Brittany is single right now, but she was never with that married man.”
After the photos of his tryst with Brittany, Jason issued an apology to his wife and fans. “The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar,” Jason admitted. “I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that’s the end of the story.”
Jason and Jessica have two children together.
