Raffaello Follieri, Anne Hathaway’s beau for the last four years, was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison Thursday for fraudulently taking millions from investors who thought he had access to Roman Catholic Church real estate at a reduced price because of family connections to the Vatican. (For those not familiar with the case, he even had a fake letter from Pope John Paul II) Defense attorney Flora Edwards asked for sympathy for the well-intentioned sleaze bag, claiming that he got caught up with the lavish lifestyle and “became intoxicated with it all.” She also asked for sentencing leniency because of Follieri’s ill mother and his history of charitable donations. Yes, donations made with stolen money.
This guy makes a site like ours want to come up with trophies! Smuggest, worthlessest, sleaziest, most likely to get what’s coming to him in prison… His smug photos are enough all by themselves to justify a jail term! Gandhi would punch this guy! We’re glad to hear it will be at least 54 months before he is again screwing unsuspecting investors or Anne Hathaway.
