Anna Duggar sparks outrage over ‘offensive’ Black History Month tweet

Compared with some of her in-laws, 19 Kids and Counting‘s Anna Duggar usually isn’t considered to be particularly controversial. But, she certainly riled up some followers this week with an “offensive” retweet about Black History Month.

Although the message was conceived by the Radiance Foundation — which also tweets about “LGBT fascism” — much of the criticism was directed at the expectant mother.

“So full of Christian love NOT,” one Twitter user fired back at Anna. “And you have so many African-American friends NOT No longer watch the show!”

“You are one of the most ignorant people to have ever walked this earth how dare you post that disgusting quote,” another said. “You have no idea of the struggles and heartache of being African American has been and is how hard it is to get people to accept black history month as a month in general.”

Anna hasn’t responded, but Radiance Foundation creator Ryan Scott Bomberger was less than sympathetic with the second commenter, whom he told, “Try to keep your lack of awareness down to 144 characters or less. I am black. #clueless #fail”

He also responded to a Twitter user who said the message “probably sent Anne Frank back 2 the closet” by saying, “Did you invoke Anne Frank b/c the evil of #eugenics brought us both the #Holocaust AND birthed #PlannedParenthood?”

Yikes — it’s probably a good thing for Anna (and TLC) that she’s staying out of it now.

Do you think Anna’s retweet was inappropriate?
