Angelina Jolie is now an official United Nations envoy

Angelina Jolie visits Pakistan to help raise awareness and money for flood victims

A day in the life of Angelina Jolie:

Brad steps out of the shower…

Angelina: “Not right now Brad Pitt, the phone is ringing. Hello? Yes, this is Angelina… United Nations? Envoy? Sounds pretty cool, let me ask my leg.”

Angelina’s leg: “I got no problem with that.”

Okay so maybe I shouldn’t get in to screenwriting but Jolie must be doing something right as her passionate charity work has resulted in the actress being honored by the United Nations as a special envoy.

Officially it is the United Nations refugee agency and this is the first time they’ve named a special envoy. Angelina was formerly a goodwill ambassador so this is kind of a saving the world promotion you could say. Spokesman for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, Adrian Edwards, said:

“Her work does go substantially beyond what we would typically see as being the normal role of a goodwill ambassador. I don’t think you need a rocket scientist to see the benefits that she is bringing in terms of the attention that she is getting for the plight of the world’s displaced.”

Her duty as Envoy will be to focus on complex crises that result in mass displacement of people such as Afghanistan and Somalia. This role is usually reserved for former diplomats or retired politicians, but hey we’re talking about Angelina here so there it is.

Congrats to Jolie on this designation and a tip of the hat to all of her dedication and passion that led to it happening.

Props to I Need My Fix for the scoop!
