Amanda Bynes switches to upscale Malibu rehab facility

Amanda Bynes The Canyons

Amanda Bynes has left the UCLA Medical Center where she was receiving treatment for a serious mental illness, and is now at The Canyon, an upscale Malibu rehab center that caters to celebrities.

The Canyon Treatment Center does not have the kind of psychiatric facilities that are available at UCLA and sources with TMZ say that the actress is still very much in a troubled state. The news is somewhat surprising because Bynes is under a special LPS hold, which doctors requested and received because they were so concerned about her well-being.

The actress checked into the facility approximately 3 weeks ago. She is said to rarely leave the area in which she is living and has minimal interaction with others.

Here’s a brief “about us” via The Canyon official website:

The Canyon in Malibu California is the exclusive sanctuary of recovery for people diagnosed with or without co-occurring disorders. This premier center offers a comprehensive continuum of care that covers many forms of treatments, services, and educational tools that gives the opportunity for each client to form a lasting foundation of healing. The team of therapists, psychiatrists and clinical staff at The Canyon are exceptionally trained in treating individuals that suffer from any form of behavioral problems, mental illness and/or substance abuse issues.

The Canyon made the wrong kind of headlines back in 2011 when an employee allegedly sold info about Brooke Mueller during her time there.
