The 90 Day Fiance franchise has its fair share of cast members who previously appeared on other reality shows, but Season 5 may have the first cast member with a legitimate acting resume! 27-year-old Elizabeth Potthast from Tampa, who is featured this season courting her 31-year-old Moldovan alpha male Andrei, has her own IMDB listing, which includes her appearance on Showtime’s Homeland!
SPOILER LINK ALERT – While researching this post I found out some information that clearly indicates whether or not Elizabeth and Andrei have gotten married as planned, or if they called off the wedding! Click here for the answer!
With her role listed as simply “cashier,” it’s easy to roll your eyes and scoff — but I tracked down the episode in question and watched the scene with Elizabeth, and it includes multiple lines in a dialogue with show star Damian Lewis! That being said, her “cashier” character seems eerily similar to the Elizabeth we’re getting to know on the show — the question is whether or not what 90 Day Fiance viewers are seeing is accurate, or just Elizabeth playing up another “role.”
Here is a screen cap of Elizabeth from her scene:
In addition to Homeland, Elizabeth also lists a starring role in the movie Secrets in the Snow, which appears to be a retooled version of The Breakfast Club with a blizzard replacing detention as the unifying factor for a diverse array of high school students with unique personal issues. Here’s the trailer, in which you can see Elizabeth showing off her acting chops in an intimidatingly turtle necky turtle neck sweater:
And some highlights of just Elizabeth in the movie from her own Youtube channel followed by a synopsis of the film:
For the students of Eastbrook High, what began as a December snow fall quickly becomes a threatening winter storm, and school is dismissed for the day. Six familiar strangers are the only students remaining at school as the conditions outside worsen and the doors to the school are locked. The lurking danger and personal conflicts are intermixed with the excitement of endless possibilities of having the entire school to themselves. An impromptu talent show and culinary class feast ensue, and a frozen knock from outside the school brings a whole element to the evening! Wills are tested, friendships are created, and secrets are revealed as they realize they must rely on each other to make it through the stormy night.
If you’re looking to see more of Elizabeth’s on-screen appearances, here are some other examples you can track down:
The Bad One as Clarice Smith
The Twilight Spoof as Bella’s Bestfriend
Investigation Discovery as “Featured” ??
Verizon Wireless Indy Series as Spectator
NASCAR Nationwide Series as Tour Group Member
Genie Bra Infomercial as “Featured” *
* I’m a little embarrassed to reveal that I watched a LOT of Genie Bra videos looking for Elizabeth, but had no luck.
Although I had no luck finding Elizabeth demonstrating the wonders of the Genie Bra, I did find her audition for a Harris Teeter grocery store commercial! Unfortunately, she has it set up so the video is not embeddable — you’ll have to click the link to watch the clip.
Ah, but acting isn’t Elizabeth’s only talent. According to one of her since-deleted online resumes, she can sing, dance, and drive a stick shift — among many other talents. (Like riding a unicycle?) Here is the full list:
If you’re wondering how Elizabeth got into acting, singing, and unicycling at such a young age, I believe her mother was a huge influence. Pamela Putnam is CEO of Stellar Talent and Image, which is a talent agency in North Carolina that looks to have a focus on children. From their website:
Stellar Talent & Image was created by Pamela Putnam to give guidance, direction, & training to people interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. After working many years as a professional model and actress, many people aspiring to do the same, came to Pamela for advice on how to get started in the industry.
Elizabeth’s older sister Rebekah, who has been featured on 90 Day Fiance, was a model in New York City for a few years, and she also lists “actress” on her resume — although it looks as though she no longer does either professionally any more.
OK, that pretty much concludes my research into Elizabeth’s acting background. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find anything that would explain her egregious misuse of lipstick. Perhaps it’s just the result of intense method acting?
You can keep up with Elizabeth’s role as “in-over-her-head naive American girl in love” on new episodes of 90 Day Fiance airing Sunday nights at 9/8c on TLC!
