VIDEOS Axl Rose and Guns N’ Roses ruin “Welcome to the Jungle” and more for good cause

Axl Rose and Guns N' Roses perform at the 2012 Bridge School Benefit Concert

Neil Young’s annual Bridge School Benefit Concert has played host to some of the most memorably soul-altering acoustic performances in recorded history, and this year was no exception — but thanks to Axl Rose and the current incarnation of Guns N’ Roses, the “soul-altering” was not a good thing. At all.

The band is no stranger to acoustifying and otherwise college dorming up some of their classic hits from the 1980s and ’90s, but their more raucous rockers such as “Better” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” are usually reserved for amplified-only renditions. That all changed this weekend when Axl, who appears to have eaten more than his fair share of “Sweet Bit O’ Honeys” (Maxl Rose? Axl Grows?), and the boys attempted both of those tracks (below) as well as “Welcome to the Jungle.”

Here’s a video of Axl wheezing and twitching his way through the song, which is waaaay more bungle than jungle:

And here are a couple more if you’ve got a real Appetite for Destruction… of a legacy:

On a positive note, if they ever make a film titled SMDH, they already have some songs for the soundtrack!
