For Survivor: South Pacific’s crop of participants there isn’t much unearthing to be had. There are a couple of recycled show vets, a quasi-famous country singer and mostly known peeps like Lingerie Football League player Mikayla Wingle. One of the somewhat under-the-radar participants is looker Albert Destrade from Plantation, FL.
Albert is a good-looking man and is a self-professed baseball addict. He’s a baseball coach and a confidant dude who believes he was what it takes to be the sole survivor.
I know that I possess a unique combination of attributes that would make me a favorite in this game. I’m athletic and very socially adept. I’m calculated and self-aware. Ultimately, if you combine my awareness, physical strength and social calibration, I bring a lot to the table.
One of the interesting things I’ve learned while profiling reality show contestants is that it usually isn’t just a one-off circumstance of luck that lands them their TV gig. The folks who appear on these competition based shows usually pursue them hard, using all means necessary to score this modern age 15 minutes of fame. This is certainly the case for Mr. Hitch as I was able to find the following video of Albert and his buddy Cory Newsom in an The Amazing Race audition video. Check it out:
The clip shows Albert and Cory roaming a shopping mall in Nashville and in the process introducing themselves and why they would be what the producers of The Amazing Race would want on their show. They brag about their abilities to crash major parties including the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl victory bash and the MTV Video Music Awards. And hey, those guys thumb wrestle!
I guess the pair wasn’t what CBS needed for that show but something about Albert pleased the folks with Survivor. Since I dropped the Will Smith Hitch comment how about I leave you with a side-by-side of the real life dating coach and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air shirtless just for a little comparison:
