VIDEO Documentary featuring wrestling star Joanie ‘Chyna’ Laurer’s battle with addiction

Wrestling With Chyna

Following her death last year, an emotional and revealing documentary about Joanie “Chyna” Laurer has been created, and the first trailer for the film was released this week. The timing of the release falls close to the one year anniversary of her death.

During the last years of her life, Chyna began to spiral out of control while abusing drugs and alcohol. Those closest to her said, “The more success Joanie gets, the unhappier she is.”

As a way to document her struggles and hopeful recovery, Joanie teamed up with documentary filmmaker Erik Angra. Sadly, Joanie lost her battle with addiction and died last April while in the midst of filming.

Chyna

Chyna rose to fame in the WWE back in the nineties. She broke ground as a female wrestler and was dubbed the “Ninth Wonder of the World.” She later went on to star in several reality shows, including The Surreal Life, and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Chyna also posed for Playboy, and made several adult films.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse inside her troubled world. Regardless of whether you’re a wrestling fan, a reality TV fan, or a newbie to Chyna’s story, there’s no question it’s a story worth telling.
