The Fault In Our Stars movie adaptation of the best-selling John Green novel is out in theaters June 6, and stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort looked stunning at the blue carpet première last night.

If you haven’t read the book yet (and you totally should!) it’s a bit of a tearjerker, but it’s worth it. To not give too much away, TFIOS is a book about a teenager named Hazel who’s battling cancer and how she finds love with a fellow cancer patient. It was partially inspired by a real girl named Esther. The stories aren’t the same, but a lot of Hazel’s personality, and how she handles her cancer diagnosis were influenced by John Green’s friendship with Esther.

True Blood’s Sam Trammel plays Hazel’s dad in the movie, and he opened up to Refinary29.com about how the role affected him emotionally. “It’s a scary thing to inhabit when you have children of your own,” he told the website. “I was sensitive before, but now I have such a soft spot for kids – I’m so much more profoundly moved by them. I remember being in Pittsburgh when we were shooting and seeing a boy and his father sitting on a bench and just that sight made me cry.”

Shailene told The Hollywood Reporter that she was so invested in the story that she felt like she wasn’t watching herself on the screen. “It doesn’t feel like I’m watching me, I guess, because I was such a fan of the book for so long, so I felt that I was watching Hazel and Gus.”

The title comes from a quote from Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar. Cassius says,
“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings.”
