Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen welcome a real sleeping beauty
Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen are new parents! The Hart of Dixie actress’ rep confirmed Rachel gave birth to baby girl Briar Rose Christiensen on Oct. 29.
“Both mother and baby are healthy and doing well,” her rep told People.
The baby’s name was made famous by The Brothers Grimm’s 1812 telling of Sleeping Beauty. In the 1959 Disney version, the princess is officially “Aurora,” but nicknamed Briar Rose by her three caretakers. Still, the first name “Briar” hasn’t cracked Social Security’s list of top 1,000 most-popular baby girl names within the past 14 years.
Just like her namesake, Briar Rose’s parents want to keep her very safe and secure: Rachel’s rep said they support the No Kids Policy and would like privacy.
Rachel and Hayden, both 33, are also very private about their relationship. They met while filming Jumper in 2007, but rarely attend events together. They kept quiet during her pregnancy, although a handful of friends said the pair was very excited for parenthood.
“I’m really thrilled and happy that she’s going to be on this next journey of her life,” Jaime King, Rachel’s Hart of Dixie co-star, told Us Weekly in May. “I know she’s going to be the best mother.”
Before getting pregnant, Rachel also said she was looking forward to motherhood.
“I definitely have family on the brain,” she told Cosmopolitan in May 2013. “Having kids is something I want to see in my future — I hope.”
