PHOTOS – Sao Paulo, Brazil Fashion Week 2010: Samuel Cirnansck show features tables and lampshades
You need a shot of bourbon, two hits of acid, and some of that peyote sh*t to truly experience Sao Paulo fashion week. This stuff is nuts. One of the surreal highlights was the Tim Burton meets Disney’s Beauty and the Beast spectacle put on by designer Samuel Cirnansck. Cirnansck took the notion of women as furniture to a whole new level! His literal interpretation of the “table skirt” will have men everywhere looking to get rid of their gum, and as an homage to how often women have brilliant ideas, he put lampshades on their heads!
This is Project Runway meets New Yankee Workshop and you know what? I love it! The show could have very easily taken a turn into a silly and cliched attempt at shocking, but it’s got enough whimsical vision and solid craftsmanship to actually work. It’s got a Victorian-biker-Dr. Suess vibe.
