Miley Cyrus continues to mourn the passing of her husky pup Floyd in April, but it appears that the 21-year-old singer has managed to overcome crippling depression and has moved on to celebrating Floyd’s life with the help of a tattoo artist and a group of close sympathetic “fwends” that include Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne. Miley threw a house party over the 4th of July holiday, during which she, Wayne and others got a large memorial Floyd tattoo designed by Wayne himself — and Miley flooded instagram with photos of Poochapalooza!
Before we get to the tattooing, I think it’s important to set the mood with this photo from early Saturday posted by Wayne, which looks like it could be a surreal still from a Flaming Lips video:
“Finally at Cyrus’s place with rainbow unicorn passing a joint …” Wayne captioned the photo.
Wayne Coyne then began drawing the Floyd tattoo that everyone would be getting:
And here’s the finished product, which features a drawing of Floyd inside a circle with a speech bubble that reads, “With a little help from my fwends.”

Also a sign that Miley is healing after Floyd’s passing is that she got a new pup, a collie named Emu, that she seems to really be taking a shine to. (You might recall that Miley got another puppy named Moonie soon after Floyd’s passing, but she gave him up and told her fans that it was too soon.)
Miley posted a photo of herself and Emu in bed together and wrote this lengthy entry a week ago:
time to start making Emu accounts smilers. Hes here and here to stay. I welcomed Emu Coyne Cyrus into the family a couple days ago. Been keepin him a secret cause sometimes I’m weird like that. It’s taken some time to be ready for this next step and loving again. There will never be anyone like Floyd. There was a bond that was so deep it’s irreplaceable but that’s not what I am trying to do. Never will I replace Floyd and that’s something I had to take time to understand. we had a very special memorial service for Floyd and I felt my angel Floydy give Emu his blessing. I prayed to Floyd to just give him a touch of his awesomeness and he has. He is so special and different than my baby Floyd and I think Floyd did that on purpose. But sometimes he does little things that remind me of him and it makes me smile ♥ I’m blissed the out right now. feel like this is a new beginning in so many ways. I feel a change coming on.
It’s great to see Miley is doing better! It’s amazing what having fwends awound can do — especiawy when one is a member of the Fwaming Wips!
