MARRIED TO MEDICINE Dr. Heavenly Kimes’ therapy session reveals Mariah Huq reminds her of her sister
On tonight’s Married to Medicine, Dr. Heavenly Kimes goes to therapy to explore her issues with Mariah Hur, who accused her husband of cheating on Heavenly on last week’s episode (as well as this week’s). Heavenly disclosed to her therapist that she called Mariah a “low-down dirty b!tch” and asked Mariah to get out of her house. Her therapist responded that this behavior would demonstrate “low emotional intelligence,” and he dug deeper to get at the root of Heavenly’s issues.
Heavenly says the problem is that she just can’t stand a liar, but her therapist responds that this is just a defense mechanism, and asks about Heavenly’s childhood.
Her therapist’s question inspires Heavenly to talk about the tension between herself and her sister while the two of them were growing up. Her mom put pressure on Heavenly to be a doctor, Heavenly says, but did not put the same pressure on her sister, who did not go to college.
Heavenly’s not currently speaking with her sister because she feels her sister resents Heavenly’s success. She also makes the connection that she thinks she has issues with Mariah because she reminds her of her sister.
Heavenly further revealed that her mother never told her she loved her — so Heavenly rejected the word “love” when her husband said it to her.
Her therapist suggests she go back home to Miami to confront her past, which doesn’t make Dr. Heavenly very happy. “You swept that under the rug for a reason,” the therapist says.
Of course, in a romantic twist, in the very next scene, Heavenly and Mariah are forced to work together when the cast participates in a FitMe group workout “field day,” led by Dr. Jackie Walters.
