Mackenzie Phillips’ sister Chynna Phillips seeking rehab treatment for anxiety

Chynna Phillips, singer and half-sister of Mackenzie Phillips, has checked herself into a rehab facility this weekend to treat anxiety her manager/publicist Lizzie Grubman confirms to People (via PopEater).

Full statement:

“After much thoughtful deliberation, Chynna Phillips has checked herself into an undisclosed treatment facility for anxiety. With the full support of her family and friends, she is looking forward to her recovery. We ask that people respect her and her family’s privacy at this time.”

Chynna’s half-sister Mackenzie made headlines last September by confessing to having an incestuous relationship with the women’s father, Papa John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas. Mackenzie has battled drug addiction most of her life, and is currently being featured on the VH1 show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

Anxiety can be a really crippling disorder especially combined with explosive family issues, not to mention family issues that rocket throughout the entire world. Chynna was one of the few of Mackenzie’s family members to say she believed Mackenzie’s claims about her relationship with their father. She told US Weekly at that time: “Somebody could have dropped a piano on my head and I probably wouldn’t have felt it. But I knew it was true. I mean, who in their right mind would make such a claim if it wasn’t true?”

The singer’s first album in about 15 years, One Reason was released the day before Mackenzie’s bombshell media blitz. She is married to and has three children with Billy Baldwin, who currently has a gig on Gossip Girl.
