LISTEN John Mayer and Katy Perry’s duet, Who You Love

Katy Perry and John Mayer together in Los Angeles
If John Mayer and Katy Perry’s duet isn’t a perfect description of their relationship, then I don’t know what is. In the ballad, John and Katy alternate verses and sing about being unable to predict the ways of the heart.

John, who officially released the song as part of his upcoming Paradise Valley album, starts off…

My girl, she ain’t the one that I saw coming / sometimes I don’t know which way to go / and I tried to run before but I’m not running anymore / ’cause I fought against it hard enough to know / that you love who you love who you love / you can’t make yourself stop dreaming of who you’re dreaming of / if it’s who you love, then it’s who you love.

Katy, whose own album, Prism, is set for release in October, follows up…

My boy he ain’t the one that I saw coming / and some have said his heart’s too hard to hold / and it takes a little time / but you should see him when he shines / ’cause you never want to let that feeling go / when you love who you love who you love.

The most endearing part of the song is at the very end when Katy gives a little laugh.

“That’s just a love giggle. It’s like the ones that Mariah Carey had in 1990,” she told SIRIUSXM’s Morning Mash Up. “I was going for that, I think I was just so happy… You’re catching the real moment there.”

The cute couple is currently on-again after temporarily splitting last March. Reports describe them as being happier than ever — and it seems this new song is a pretty good testament to that.
