Lifetime’s The Lizzie Borden Chronicles video trailer and first photos with Christina Ricci

The Lizzie Borden Chronicles

Lifetime’s original movie Lizzie Borden Took An Axe (starring Christina Ricci as the notorious maybe-axe-murderer) was a huge success for the network last January, premiering to well over 4.3 million viewers and taking home the honor of the most-tweeted program of the night across all of television. In April Ricci will reprise her role as Lizzie when Lifetime premieres their eight-episode limited series The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, which takes some creative liberties as it explores what could have happened in the years after the events in Lizzie Borden Took An Axe.

UPDATE – Lifetime has announced The Lizzie Borden Chronicles will premiere Sunday, April 5, at 10/9c.

Here’s the first preview trailer for The Lizzie Borden Chronicles in which you can see Ricci (above) along with her co-stars Clea DuVall, Cole Hauser, and Jonathan Banks — the latter of which most famously played the unflappable Renaissance hit man and security expert Mike Ehrmantraut on Breaking Bad:

Damn, I love me some Lifetime trailers! I’ve affectionately titled this one, “If Lizzie wants to know the time, she’ll axe you.” It’s one of the rare times where video editors doing a hatchet job is actually a great thing! 😉 And I can’t wait to see Jonathan Banks’ character Mr. Flowers in action:

Here is more about The Lizzie Borden Chronicles from the press release issued earlier this month announcing Lifetime bumped the limited series from six episodes to eight — which must mean they are VERY pleased with what they’ve seen so far! I’ve also tossed in more of the first official promotional photos from the set, courtesy of Lifetime:

The Lizzie Borden Chronicles delivers an intense and fictionalized account of actual events and people surrounding Lizzie’s life after her controversial acquittal of the horrific double murder of her father and stepmother in 1892, when the exonerated figure lives a life awash in newfound celebrity filled with scandalous love affairs. But when numerous people close to Lizzie – ranging from her half-brother William (Andrew Howard, Hatfields & McCoys) to Broadway luminaries and her business associate/underworld kingpin Mr. Flowers (Emmy nominee Jonathan Banks, Breaking Bad) — start to mysteriously die under brutal and strange circumstances, legendary Pinkerton detective Charlie Siringo (Cole Hauser, Good Will Hunting) becomes determined to prove her involvement in their ultimate demise. Jessy Schram (Falling Skies) plays Nancy O’Keefe, an alluring and ambitious actress and dancer who befriends Lizzie, and Emmy nominee John Heard (The Sopranos) will portray William Almy, the business partner of Lizzie’s murdered father Andrew.
