January Jones’ hair is falling out after too many dye jobs

January Jones, who usually keeps her hair blond for her role as Betty Draper on “Mad Men,” has been dying her hair a lot recently for roles, and all the processing has causing a lot of damage.

She told Graziadaily.co.uk that she might just have to shave all her hair off and start over.

I have been every color and now my hair is falling out in clumps.

I like it all colors, it makes you feel different according to what color it is, but I prefer to be blonde. My son recognizes me in photos when I am blonde. He says, ‘Mama.

I’ve been blonde, red with extensions for this film (“Sweetwater,”) then blonde, then black, and now blonde again. I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig.”

It can be fun to experiment with colors, but hair can only take so much!

Lightening the hair actually damages the cuticle of the hair, making it weaker. Adding extensions, and more coloring on top of the already damaged hair can cause a great deal of stress.

Dermatologist Paradi Mirmirani told CBS News:

“Bleaching your hair penetrates the cuticle with chemicals and removes your natural pigment. You are changing the structure of your hair, making it more susceptible to damage.”
