George Zimmerman and DMX to fight in celebrity boxing match
Rapper DMX will step into the ring with George Zimmerman, the man who was controversially acquitted for killing Trayvon Martin, an unarmed African-American teenager.
Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman told TMZ more than 15,000 people applied to battle George Zimmerman since the former neighborhood watchman issued an open challenge last month.
“We haven’t discussed purple, yellow, white, black,” Damon told TMZ in January of George’s potential opponent. Damon added the fight wasn’t a “race thing.”
DMX doesn’t think the same way.
“[I’m boxing for] every black person who has been done wrong in the system,” he said in a video for TMZ. “I am going to beat the living f**k out him… I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up. Once I am done with him, I am going to whip my d**k out and piss on him … right in his muthaf**kin face. Zimmerman is a piece of s**t and that’s what he needs to drink.”
Since the match-up was announced, many have voiced support for DMX. However, some others say that — even if it would be nice see George get punched in the face — the public shouldn’t support the event.
“Do not give his pockets a single penny,” Olivia Cole said of George Zimmerman in a post for Huffington Post: Black Voices. “Turn your back on this spectacle, and turn your back on George Zimmerman.”
George previously refused to tell Radar Online whether he will profit from his participation. A portion of the proceeds will go toward charity.
Now that we know the who, Damon Feldman will announce the where and when next week. Hopefully Damon will grant DMX time to hone his boxing skills, considering George has been training for years.
“Boxing isn’t new to me,” he told Radar Online. “It’s something I had picked up well before the incident.”
