Garth Brooks sells out ten Chicago shows in three hours, puts Malibu beach house up for sale

Chicago 1

It would appear that the Garth Brooks of old is back. Or at least he is where profitability is concerned.

Brooks, who recently revealed that Chicago will be the first stop on his three-year world tour, expanded the single date to a four-night stand. And then to a ten-night stand. All at the famed Allstate Arena, where hundreds of venerated acts have played over the years.

And then he sold out every single ticket to the ten shows.

In fact, Brooks sold the 180,000 tickets in about three hours, or roughly the time it takes to nap after an Oklahoma-sized lunch.

One interesting note is that Brooks will be playing two shows per night over five nights, instead of the standard one (longer) show per date. Apparently all those years of crooning Vegas-style have rubbed off on him.

Another worthwhile note: according to Brooks himself, the world tour stage is “phenomenal,” but not so grand that the ticket prices have to be adjusted to compensate. The Chicago shows sold for a flat rate of $60 per seat.

In related news, Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood have put their swanky Malibu beach house on the market.

The 4,236 square foot, four bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom pad sits on a shady half-acre just off the ocean.

It was built in the 50s, and looks like it, though the couple have gussied it up nicely. And, for $7,500,000, you can redecorate it yourself.

Still no word on whether Brooks has plans to reactivate long-dormant cult icon Chris Gaines for the tour. At least one journalist of note has started a sort of petition for just that, though. More information as it becomes available.
