Emma Watson calls out fashion industry for being “dangerously unhealthy”
Actress Emma Watson sat down for an interview with The Guardian and she didn’t mince words about her unfavorable views of the fashion industry.
The 23-year-old, who found intense fame at a young age as one of the stars of the Harry Potter franchise, talked about being able to take criticism much better than she did when she was starting out:
“As a younger woman, that pressure got me down, but I’ve made my peace with it. With airbrushing and digital manipulation, fashion can project an unobtainable image that’s dangerously unhealthy. I’m excited about the aging process. I’m more interested in women who aren’t perfect. They’re more compelling.”
Watson, who is out making the promotional rounds for Noah (see our fun “underwater” red carpet pics here), also talked with the Sunday Times about the difficulty of attempting to maintain a sense of anonymity while attending college:
“On the first day, I walked into the canteen and everyone went completely silent and turned around to look at me. I had to say to myself ‘it’s OK, you can do this’. You just have to take a deep breath and gather your courage.”
Emma will continue to have a packed schedule as she’s about to begin filming for the thriller Regression to be directed by Alejandro Amenábar (The Others).
