Dean Geyer joins the cast of Glee as Lea Michele’s love interest
Gleeks everywhere are thrilled to be getting two new cast members next season. FOX announced on Monday that both Dean Geyer and Jacob Artist will be added to the cast of the hit show for season 4. Dean will have a full-time role on Glee as Brody Weston, a good-looking upperclassman who takes a liking to Lea Michele’s character, Rachel Berry.
On Monday, Dean spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the news of his new gig. “I found out this morning, my agent woke me up and apparently I’m working on Friday. I’m looking forward to it because I get to sing and act, which are my two biggest passions. I get to work with really talented actors and it’s only my fifth year of acting and I’m still learning the ropes. I’m really excited.”
Dean also dished about his new co-star and love interest, Lea Michele. The two have already got off to a good start and according to Dean, they’ve got chemistry. “I got to met Lea and she was so sweet. I met her for literally two seconds and we jumped into a scene and she was so easy to work with. It was a chemistry read so there had to be a bit of chemistry there and thankfully there was with us.”
Dean’s character will have the difficult task of breaking up the infamous love affair between Lea Michele’s character Rachel, and Cory Montheith’s character Finn — something that fans may hold against him. Bad guy alert! “It’s going to be tough, I know they have a lot of fans. I don’t want to be that person to break them up but at the same time, it’s fun to play someone who creates some sort of tension.” Luckily for Dean, he’s a total hottie so we’re sure fans won’t be too hard on him.
Dean was born in South Africa but moved to Australia at the age of 15. A few years later, he auditioned for Australian Idol where he came in an impressive 3rd place. He went on to star in the Australian soap opera Neighbours and the martial arts film Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown.
Dean was previously engaged to Lisa Origliasso of the successful band The Veronicas. Unfortunately, the pair called it quits after their relationship to a back seat to their work commitments. He is currently in a relationship with his Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown co-star, Jillian Murray.
