Dash cam video of Reese Witherspoon’s arrest
Actress Reese Witherspoon has taken full responsibility for her actions since her well-publicized recent arrest in Atlanta. In an interview on Good Morning America, she admitted that she got out of line with the officer who was arresting her husband Jim Toth for an alleged DUI. “I was so disrespectful to him. I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better. It’s just unacceptable.”
Now footage from the police dash cam has made its way to the internet via TMZ. Reese got arrested for disorderly conduct because she refused to stay in the car, and the following video leaves no doubts as to that having been the case and then some:
At one point, Reese can be heard asking, “Do you know my name sir?” When the officer says he doesn’t need to know, she says, “You’re about to find out who I am!”
A little later she says, “I’m an American citizen” and that “I’m allowed to stand on American soil.” She then warns, “You better not arrest me.”
During Reese’s aggression, her husband is noticeably trying to get her to calm down. After Witherspoon gets handcuffed and the officer explains to him that he tried not to have to go there, Toth said “I’m sorry. I had absolutely nothing to do with that.”
Now that the footage is out, Reese should be able to put this unfortunate evening behind her and get on with being her Oscar-winning self. She’s been in the Atlanta area filming The Good Lie.
Speaking of a good lie, TMZ also had the part of the video in which Witherspoon lied about being pregnant – which she admitted to having done on GMA:
