Chloë Moretz drenched in pig’s blood in first Carrie remake photo

This new Carrie remake starring Chloë Moretz and Julianne Moore has A LOT to live up to. It’s hard to compete with Sissy Spacek’s creepily earnest and bold innocence. She was so good in it, she got an Oscar nomination. When’s the last time you heard of someone getting nominated for an Academy Award for a horror movie performance?(If you haven’t seen the original Carrie, you should definitely watch it!)

The first photo from the new movie looks pretty good (via Entertainment Weekly.) It’s hard to mess up the gory intensity of a bucket of pig blood. Chloë actually “built her own dress” for the part, telling ET that she’s “never gone so deep into a role.”

Carrie‘s based on a Stephen King novel of the same name, which has awesome cover art right not:

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of both Carries:

The Kimberly Peirce directed Carrie is set for theaters March 2013. The original came out in 1976 and was directed by Brian De Palma.
