Last week’s episode of Catfish featured scam artist Kidd Cole, who duped numerous people out of money by pretending to be a music producer and recording artist who boasted of collaborations with Kanye West and more. MTV True Detectives Nev Schulman and Max Joseph initially met with Kidd Cole victim Lucille but eventually tracked down another victim, luxury car rental company owner and limo driver Loretta. Loretta drove Kidd Cole around for days, and his bill had totaled $8,000 before he disappeared.
After being scammed, and before the Catfish episode was filmed, Loretta started the Kidd Cole Scam Artist Facebook page that was featured on the show where she swears to get “Payback” on Kidd Cole. Just after the episode aired Loretta posted this video of herself singing along to James Brown’s classic “The Payback,” and just as Nev wrote when he shared it on his page, “THIS IS EVERYTHING!”
The charismatic Loretta has been in high heaven since the Catfish episode aired, and she has shared her vindication with a slew of smack-talking Facebook posts that are sure to make any victim of a scam artist crack a smile.
Here’s a hat selfie from Loretta which included a caption that explains why MTV was smart to not let her meet Kidd Cole in person again during the episode:
Someone ask me why CATFISH didn’t have me approaching KIDD COLE? Smart CATFISH because, he would NOT be worrying about his I phone he would be worrying about his EYE I’M JUST SAYING! !
Loretta shared this next actual selfie along with a message to fans:
TO ALL UNBELIEVERS CATFISH IS” NOT” FAKE. I DROVE KIDD COLE MYSELF. THERE WERE NO BAD NEWS ABOUT KIDD COLE UNTIL HE SCAMMED ME. HE THINKS HE IS UNCATCHABLE. LAST NIGHT IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF “THE BIG PAYBACK” . PART 2 HAS JUST BEGUN. NOW IT’S ON LIKE POPCORN. KIDD COLE” MUST PAY FOR HIS CRIME. HE CAN GO THE CRAZY WAY OR THE JAIL WAY. SO STAY TUNE TO SEE HOW THIS PLAYS OUT. I WANT TO THANK ALL THE SUPPORTERS. AND FOR THE PEOPLE HE SCAMMED. JUST CALL ME “SPOOKY” LOL I GOT YOUR BACK! !!
And in case you were wondering what’s up with Kidd Cole (aka Jerez Coleman), he’s currently awaiting a mental evaluation ordered by a Virginia judge in a separate fraud case. His next scheduled court appearance is August 8.
Also, there have been a few fund-raising campaigns launched to raise money for victims of Kidd Cole, but ironically it appears as though these are scams in themselves! Loretta warns on her Facebook page that she has not started any such fund-raising campaign. Yet.
To wrap up the post, here’s James Brown’s “The Payback” in its entirety followed by Kidd Cole being Kidd Cole. Actually, Kidd Cole being… a British Kidd Cole?!?
