Bringing Up Bates’ Gil Bates named in sex abuse lawsuit

Gil Bates, the patriarch of the Bringing Up Bates clan and a close friend of the Duggars, has been named in a large sex abuse lawsuit against the Institute of Basic Life Principles. In the lawsuit, five women claimed Gil helped cover up the abuse they suffered while involved with the IBLP, the religious group the Duggars also follow.
