Basketball Wives LA is returning for its sixth season on April 17th, and the biggest names in the VH1 hit’s cast have been making the publicity rounds in support. This week, Jackie Christie and Tami Roman stopped by Hollywood Today Live to reveal, officially, all the new cast members, confirming every name that’s been rumored for weeks and throwing in a few more for good measure.
As we reported earlier this month, Bonnie-Jill Laflin, the first female scout in the NBA’s history, is one new addition; another is Nick Young’s baby mama Keonna Green; and one more is the hardest get in the business: Aja Metoyer, with whom Dwyane Wade had his infamous break baby back in 2013. (It’s long been rumored, though never confirmed, that Gabrielle Union made Aja’s child support payments contingent upon her staying off the show.)
But one surprise announcement was the addition of both the other BBWLA Metoyer sisters. Aja brought both of her siblings–Melissa and Cristen–along for the Season 6 ride. (That’s Melissa in the photo at the top of the article.) And, if Jackie’s feelings are any indication of what we should expect, things are going to get very heated indeed. When asked for a word to describe Cristen, the first to come to mind is “liar”–but she then doubles down: “No, wait–super liar.”
The best part of the clip is that all Tami can do to right the ship is say “Nice…girl?” when asked for the first word to come to her mind. And Keonna got “fun” and “quiet,” and Aja got “firecracker” from both. (Tami also admitted she “didn’t really have much interaction with” Melissa, and Jackie called her “beautiful,” so it’s not like she’s biased against all the Metoyer women.) But probably Tami’s declaration–”This season is crazy”–is the most helpful takeaway.
You can follow Melissa on Instagram here, and Jackie’s newest adversary Cristen on Twitter here. And you can check out the BBWLA Metoyer sisters in action when Season 6 drops April 17th on VH1. But, before things get underway, the network is airing a one-episode special called “Basketball Wives: Showdown,” featuring Evelyn Lozada’s return to the show and a face-off between she and Tami. “Showdown” will air one week before, on April 10th.
And one last thing: it looks like VH1 has rebranded Basketball Wives LA, since it’s now referring to the show as simply Basketball Wives. That’s bound to get confusing, since the original Basketball Wives still exists–even though it’s been off the air since 2013–so we’re sticking with BBWLA for now 😉
