She’s bona fide! The man known as Bruce Jenner no longer exists in the eyes of the law, as Caitlyn Jenner had her application to change her name and gender approved by a judge moments ago.
The ruling means that William Bruce Jenner is now officially Caitlyn Marie Jenner.
Caitlyn was not present in the courtroom, but her legal team was. The judge asked if anyone objected to the name change. There was no objection and the name change was approved.
Caitlyn’s gender change was approved as well, although it was handled behind closed doors. “We’re told judges typically do NOT mention gender changes on the record out of respect for the applicant,” reports TMZ.
In her petition, Caitlyn requested that certain information be sealed from the public. This information included her medical history, as well as her address, social security number, and driver’s license number.
Congratulations to Caitlyn! I have to confess it was sort of a bummer to hear she wasn’t present in court because I was really hoping that she would be and that E! would be there to capture the amazing moment on film for I Am Cait. I’m sure there will be some sort of celebration in front of the cameras!
