Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office
Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has visited the L.A. home of Brittany Murphy, who died this morning from cardiac arrest. There were prescription drugs found in the home, but Winter wouldn’t give any specifics as to what kind they were. He tells TMZ that they will be performing toxicology tests but that the results of those tests may take up to six weeks, as you might remember form the Michael Jackson investigation.
Winter told TMZ that “foul play is not suspected at this time.”
UPDATE – In an interview with Radar Online, Winter says “We will be conducting an autopsy either tomorrow or Tuesday, the final results will be pending the toxicology. … The cause of death at this time appears to be natural. We do understand that she had a bit of a medical history and we’re looking into all aspects of that. There are some other issues….which I can’t get into at this time.”

UPDATE 11:23 PM EST – TMZ.com is now reporting that Brittany Murphy had been very sick the last few days and started throwing up early this morning. From TMZ: “Law enforcement sources tell us Murphy collapsed in the bathroom and somehow ended up in the shower … there was, we’re told, a significant amount of vomit in the immediate area. … Sources say her condition and the meds could have triggered a heart attack, but it’s too early to know. An autopsy is will be performed Monday or Tuesday.”
