MUG SHOT Single-car crash yields AK-47, illegal fireworks, and 40 live chickens. Plus drugs

 Seth Grim

A Pennsylvania man lent credence to stereotypes of Appalachia early Friday morning, when he crashed his Ford Explorer on Interstate 79 just north of Charleston WV.

Seth Grim, 21, gets his name in headlines because the car crash yielded the following bounty for state police to puzzle over: An AK-47 assault rifle and a “large load” of ammunition; a jar of marijuana; forty living, breathing, clucking chickens; and heavily-altered fireworks that police thought initially were bombs.

They called the West Virginia State Police up from Williamson to deal with the perceived threat, and found out the truth about the explosives only after the experts arrived.

Grim told police his dog tried to jump out the window of the moving vehicle, which is how the whole comedy cavalcade got started.

Crash

The crash was doubly unfortunate for Grim: in addition to having all his cargo found out, his dog later died of the injuries it sustained in the crash.

Reaction on social media was about as joyous as you’d expect.

After being treated for minor injuries, Grim was booked on the charge of possession a controlled substance with intent to deliver. His bail is set at $25,000.

The whereabouts of the chickens are unknown.
