Anna Paquin joined Larry King’s internet talk show Larry King Now
to gab about the success of True Blood, but she ended up schooling the 80-year-old talk show host about what it means to be bisexual and in a monogamous relationship.

When King asked if she was a “non practicing bisexual,” Anna replied, “Well, I mean, I am married to my husband. And we are happily, monogamously married.”

Larry interjected, “but you were bisexual,” but Anna wasn’t down with his past tense game and trying to pigeonhole sexuality based on who you’re having sex with at any particular moment. “I don’t think it’s a past tense thing. Are you still straight if you’re with somebody?” she asked. “It doesn’t mean you’re not –it doesn’t prevent your sexuality from existing. It doesn’t really work like that.”

“Are you surprised at how quickly public perception of same sex has changed?” Larry asked?
“I think it’s fantastic,” she replied. “The more people who are outspoken and advocate for same sex unions and LGBT rights, that does make a difference. The level of ignorance and hatred just becomes less acceptable.”

Anna also eloquently explained why people get so turned on by vampires. “There’s a sort of mystery and intenseness to their carnal and primitive drives,” she said of the vampire fetish. “Death and sexuality and ravenous desires being all mixed up and scary.
