Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans was back in Brunswick County court today for charges stemming from her arrest on April 23 when police were called for a domestic disturbance between her and husband Courtland Rogers and found 12 bindles of heroin as well as Percocet (without a prescription) and drug paraphernalia. Jenelle was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin; possession of a schedule II controlled substance; and simple assault.
The 21-year-old and her attorney, Dustin Sullivan, were in court briefly to address the controlled substance and drug paraphernalia charges (both misdemeanors). We spoke with Dustin Sullivan who tells us that the only thing that happened was the case was continued until July. According to Star News Online, Sullivan added that “he expects she’ll be indicted by a grand jury prior to that court date and the felony charges will be handled in Superior Court.”
Of interest to Teen Mom 2 fans, MTV cameras were not present in court today. As you may know, the network has not announced whether or not it will be bringing back Teen Mom 2 for a fifth season, and their lack of presence today might suggest they are not — although Jenelle has had a number of court appearances in the past where MTV cameras were not present. It also makes sense that they would miss out on her court date for the lesser charges, especially when it was probably predictable that the court date would just be continued anyway.
A search of upcoming court dockets shows Jenelle (and/or Dustin) will be be paying frequent visits to various courthouses in the state over the next couple months. Here are her court dates and charges:
May 14 Brunswick County District Court – Misdemeanor possession of a schedule II controlled substance, Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
May 20 Brunswick County District Court – Misdemeanor cyberstalking
May 24 Onslow County District Court – Failure to wear a seat belt in the front seat
May 31 New Hanover County District Court – Failure to wear a seat belt in the front seat
June 3 Brunswick County District Court – Misdemeanor simple assault
June 24 Onslow County District Court – Speeding
July ? Brunswick County District Court
* It should be pointed out that the the traffic infractions might be handled by just paying the fines, meaning Jenelle or Dustin won’t have to actually make a court appearance.
Jenelle’s husband Courtland Rogers, who is currently still behind bars after being arrested alongside Jenelle on April 23 and charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and/or deliver heroin as well as assault on a female, was scheduled to appear in Brunswick County District Court today for misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession. He was also scheduled to appear in Brunswick County Superior Court to address a misdemeanor shoplifting charge and a felony charge of obtaining property under false pretense.
Courtland’s name seems quite appropriate because he too also has a busy court schedule coming up:
May 14 Brunswick County District Court – Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
May 14 Brunswick County Superior Court – Felony obtaining property under false pretense, misdemeanor shoplifting concealment goods
May 29 Brunswick County District Court – Misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor battery of an unborn child, misdemeanor porbation violation
May 31 New Hanover District Court – Failure to wear a seatbelt – driver, speeding, reckless driving
June 3 Brunswick County District Court – Misdemeanor assault on a female
