VIDEOS Wife hires hitman to kill husband because it’s “easier than divorce,” husband not mad about it

Julia-Merfeld

Julia Merfeld wanted to save her husband and the father of her children the heartbreak of a divorce so she decided to have a hitman kill him.

In early April of this year, Merfield met with a guy she thought was the right cold-blooded killer for the job who turned out to be a police detective. Their meetings were recorded via hidden camera and the unemotional and straightforward means by which Merfeld went about discussing how she wanted her husband offed is chilling.

She’s so detached in fact, that I originally assumed these clips were a hoax. Sadly they’re not…

In the footage she says:

“When I first decided to do this … it’s not that we weren’t getting along. But … terrible as it sounds, it was easier than divorcing him. You know, I didn’t have to worry about the judgment of my family, I didn’t have to worry about breaking his heart, all that stuff like this. It’s, like, how I got a clean getaway.”

The way authorities got tipped off to her plans was that she had originally approached a coworker about killing her husband. At first the guy thought she was kidding but then eventually realized she was serious and contacted the cops.

Further emphasizing her disinterested demeanor about the whole thing, the undercover cop asked her if she wanted the killing done in their home or outside. She went with the outside option for two reasons… She was planning on having a friend move into the home and didn’t want this pal spooked out by the notion that there had been a break in. She also stated it would be “messy in the house” and then let out a laugh.

The undercover detective also asked her if she’d rather have him use a knife or a gun and she replied, “unless you can do it painlessly breaking his neck.”

The deal Merfeld was making was to have the deed done for $50,000. She explains in the clips that she wouldn’t be able to pay until after her husband was dead and she collected on his $400,000 life insurance policy.

On June 27 she plead guilty to solicitation of murder and her trial is set for July 30.

In what may be the most bizarre turn in this story, the target, aka her husband, asked the judge not to give his wife any prison time.
