James Franco, ever the lover of performance art, charmed the whole internet with his lip-syncing performance of Spring Breakers co-star Selena Gomez’s “Love You Like a Love Song” in the passenger seat of a moving car while wearing cornrows.
The braids and goatee are part of his look for his role in the movie as a drug and arms dealer and rapper, but they also add a certain je ne sais quoi that makes the whole video. If he looked like regular James Franco and not K-Fed, the video would have lost something crucial.
James originally posted up his emotional video (my favorite part is when he makes eyes at the backseat) on his WhoSay account, and the whole internet fell in love, from dizzy fan girls to ironic hipsters:
