The newest trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming space epic Interstellar was released today.
It shows quite a bit more detail about the interstellar portion of the journey. Previous footage focused on the emotional aspects of the movie–namely, the relationship between McConaughey’s character and his daughter, whom he has to leave on Earth in his attempt to save humanity.
This trailer, though, brings us up close to the wormhole through which McConaughey and Anne Hathaway travel, and shows us our first glimpses of the world they discover on the other side.
Nolan and crew had to go to some of the most otherworldly places on Earth (short of using CGI) to get their footage. Extensive filming took place on the Svínafellsjökull glacier in Iceland, along with assorted towns in southern Alberta.
Nolan and McConaughey appeared unannounced at Comic Con over the weekend and debuted new footage from the film, which was received with a standing ovation. It’s not yet clear if the footage was comprised of the new trailer, or something else.
What do you think of the new trailer? Are you excited to see what Christopher Nolan has in store?
