Toddlers and Tiaras mom to sell Tinker Tea: an energy drink for kids
Tori Hensley was open about giving her 2-year-old Toddlers & Tiaras beauty queen Alexa cups of coffee and a special homemade elixir called Tinker Tea (a combo of Mountain Dew, sweet tea and Pixie Stix,) and now it’s paid off for her in a big way. Tori tells Yahoo Shine that she’s in talks with a “big” company to develop an energy drink for kids.
The pageant mom says the drink will not only be marketed to pageant and dance kids, but also to kids with ADHD. “Caffeine actually reverses it in some children, not all, and can calm them down, instead of putting them on all these pills,” she explained. “Of course we’re going to have different doctors, lawyers, everything like that,” involved with the product’s development, “or else the FDA would be all over us.”
Right Tori’s unsure if she’ll be able to use the name “Tinker Tea” for the product, but she hopes she will. The Toddlers and Tiaras episode that landed Tori this opportunity sent shockwaves through the internet.
“We tried Pixie Stix alone, and we tried sips of Mountain Dew,” Tori explains. “But during pageants, she’s known for throwing fits on the stage. She just didn’t like ‘beauty’ [portions of pageants]. The music’s too slow. So we said, let’s try to figure something out to pick her up and keep her motivated and happy.”
Tori says she only gives Alexa “Tinker Tea” a few times a year to give her energy for pageants, but she does give Alexa coffee every morning, a practice that started when Alexa was nine months old.
