The Beehive Is Back! Amy Winehouse In Court For Punching A Fan [PICS]

UPDATE 7/24/09 – They tried to make her go to prison, she said, “No, no, no!” Amy Winehouse was found not guilty on assault charges in London today.

Now that’s more like it! Amy Winehouse and her famous beehive hairdo returned for a day in court stemming from an incident in which she punched a female fan in the face last September.

Eight months in the Caribbean have been good for Amy as she looked much like her pre-train wreck self, boldy strutting to the courthouse in a snappy grey suit. I suppose the best way to describe the difference is that Amy looked in control for the first time in ages.

As far as the court room drama, Amy took the stand, cracked her knuckles, and sang a little to herself before testifying that she felt intimidated by her much taller accuser Sherene Flash. “I didn’t know what she was going to do,” Winehouse said, “She lunged at me and put her arm around me. I think she was being overly friendly, but that was intimidating, I was scared.” Later, after pointing out the difference in heights between her and Flash, Amy said, “My hair does make a difference.”

Yes it does!

As for the “victim,” she says she just wanted to take a picture of the singer when things got out of hand. “She looked drunk. She looked maybe like she was on drugs or something,” Flash testified, while also admitting that she herself was a little “tipsy.”

And here’s how Flash described the Winehouse roundhouse: “She punched forcefully in my right eye. I started crying. I was shocked. I couldn’t open my eye for a while. I was just mainly in shock.”

You were in shock when a drugged up Amy Winehouse punched you in eye? Come on now! If you play with fire you’re gonna get burnt every so often! In the words of Jim Croce:

You don’t tug on Superman’s cape

You don’t spit into the wind

You don’t pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger

And you don’t mess around with a drugged up Winehouse, da do da do…

I’ll be surprised if Amy is found guilty. It would be like convicting a rattlesnake for biting some kid that was poking it with a stick. That being said, I hope the “in control” Amy is together enough to record some more great songs. I enjoy her antics as much as anyone, but she’s a damn great singer and it would be a shame if that talent has been damaged beyond repair.
